Product FAQs

What is in Kosas products?

We always start with finding the most comfy, clinically-proven ingredients to deliver the highest product performance and efficacy. All of our products undergo rigorous, independent clinical and safety testing and are formulated for a range of skin sensitivities.

We go beyond typical beauty ingredient standards, banning over 2,700 ingredients and adhering to the EU’s clean standards. “Clean” to us means that we do not formulate with any ingredients that are known to be skin sensitizers, disrupt hormones or cause harm to the environment. Among the ingredients we do not include in our product formulations are:

  • Parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Sulfates
  • Talc
  • Formaldehyde
  • BHA/BHT
  • Propylene Glycol (PPG)
  • Polyethylene Glycol (PEGS)
  • Petrolatum
  • Aluminum
  • Synthetic “Fragrance”
  • Cyclic Silicones

Is it true that Kosas products are preservative-free?

No, we use safe, effective preservatives and antimicrobial stabilizers which prevent against mold, yeast and pathogens. We use these preservatives in our products to extend their shelf lives while maintaining our standard of next-level clean ingredients. All products must pass rigorous preservative efficacy testing in accordance with the USP 51 protocol by an independent analytical lab for us to bring a product to market.

Does Kosas Revealer Concealer clog pores?

Revealer Concealer was clinically tested and validated as non-comedogenic. We take non-comedogenicity very seriously and it is one of the pillars we adhere to in every Kosas product. During development, all of our complexion products are sent to an independent clinical lab to assess the comedogenicity of the total and complete formula, and to ensure the product does not show any evidence of clogging pores. We test the complete formula, as the comedogenicity of the complete formula is more indicative of the user experience than the individual ingredients themselves. All of our products pass at least three levels of clinical and analytical testing at independent labs before they arrive on shelves.

Does Kosas Revealer Concealer cause acne?

Revealer Concealer is dermatologist-tested and clinically tested to be non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic and non-irritating. It was also formulated with arnica and panthenol to help soothe acne-prone skin. Kosas takes safety extremely seriously. We make our products with sensitive skin in mind and rigorously test our products before bringing them to market. However, every person’s skin is different and can react differently to the exact same product.  Please discontinue use, speak to a dermatologist and contact us if you experience new or worsening acne outbreaks.

What should Kosas products smell like, and how do I know if there’s an issue with my product?

Since we formulate our complexion products without added fragrances and other irritating ingredients, they may have a natural and distinct scent. If you notice any change in smell with your products or an unusually strong, unpleasant smell, please let us know. We’d be happy to send you a new one.

My product has a strange consistency to it. What should I do?

If you are concerned with the consistency of your product or notice any changes in its consistency, please let us know. We’d be happy to replace the product for you.

How do I tell if my Kosas product has expired?

Each of our unopened products has a shelf life of 2-3 years depending on whether they contain water. There is a “PAO” (product after opening) symbol on each carton that indicates the recommended amount of time to use the product after opening. If you notice any changes in smell, consistency, or other issues with your products within this PAO time period, please let us know. We’d be happy to send you a new one.

Who can I contact for more information?
